JAKARTA - Deputy Head of the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) Afriansyah Noor emphasized that Cosmetic Products must have halal certification after October 17, 2026. This was stated by Afriansyah Noor at a Seminar held by the Indonesian Cosmetics Companies Association (Perkosmi) at the 14th Exhibition & Seminar for Cosmetic Ingredients, at the Jakarta International Expo, North Jakarta, today.
"In Government Regulation Number 42 of 2024 concerning the Implementation of the Halal Product Assurance Sector, after October 17, 2026, a number of products must have halal certification, for medicinal products, cosmetics, chemical products, genetically engineered products, and consumer goods," said Afriansyah Noor, in Jakarta, Wednesday (13/5/2025).
"Cosmetics are one of the products needed by the Indonesian people, especially Muslims, so they need to be maintained by meeting the Halal Product Assurance Standards. Moreover, the current market share of cosmetics, especially Muslim women, definitely prioritizes the halal label when buying cosmetic products," he added.
Furthermore, Afriansyah said that even though the obligation to be halal certified will start in October 2026, currently many cosmetic products have implemented halal certification. Halal cosmetic products also receive high attention from the public, including through social media.
On the same occasion, Deputy for Development and Supervision of Halal Product Assurance Chuzaemi Abidin added that BPJPH continuously conducts socialization and education on halal certification to business actors, including cosmetic product manufacturers. It is hoped that socialization and education related to the obligation of halal certification can increase awareness and transparency of the cosmetics industry, as well as foster consumer trust, both from Muslims and non-Muslims.
"We from BPJPH are making efforts in the form of socialization of education through various media, one of which is the current seminar activity such as that carried out by Perkosmi, of course to increase business opportunities in marketing cosmetic products, because the need is quite high." Chuzaemi said.
"We also appreciate and support what you (entrepreneurs) do in expanding and improving the quality of products with halal certification," he said.
