Washington DC — The Halal Product Assurance Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BPJPH RI) accompanied by Agricultural Attaches Trade Attaches of Indonesia Embassy in Washington DC, and representatives of The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) in Washington DC held a strategic meeting with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the United States Meat Export Association (USMEF) on Friday, May 23, 2025.
The meeting discussed concrete steps in strengthening bilateral cooperation on export-import of halal products between Indonesia and the United States, especially regarding the fulfillment of halal standards and certification for meat products and their processed products.
According to Head of BPJPH, Ahmad Haikal Hasan, it was a concrete and strategic steps to strengthen cooperation as part of Indonesia's commitment to building a trusted, transparent, and mutually beneficial global halal ecosystem.
"We want to ensure that every product entering Indonesia, especially from the food sector, including meat and its processed products, has met the halal requirements in accordance with national regulations and global halal standards. On the other hand, the government is also open to supporting US business actors in understanding and adjusting to domestic and global halal standards," said Haikal Hasan in Washington DC, Friday (5/23/2025).
The Agricultural Attaché and Trade Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy also said that facilitating trade in halal products is very important in the context of strengthening bilateral economic relations between Indonesia and the United States, as well as a form of productive and sustainable halal diplomacy.
