BPJPH Seven Strategies to welcome the 2024 Mandatory Halal Certification

Jakarta (MORA) --- The Ministry of Religious Affairs' Halal Product Assurance Organizing Body (BPJPH) has prepared seven strategies to meet the 2024 mandatory halal certification. This strategy was conveyed by the Head of BPJPH Muhammad Aqil Irham in a Change Project Design seminar at the Lembaga Administrasi Negara (State Administration Institution) which was attended by the Minister of Religious Affairs, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas.

In the paper entitled Accelerating the Realization of the Indonesian Halal Ecosystem and Industry at the Global Level, Aqil stated that preparing a communication strategy for guaranteeing halal products is the first step he will take.

"At least today we have exported 6.5 million tonnes of halal products overseas and this still needs to be provided with stimulus. The first step we will take is to form an internal team to develop communication and socialization guidelines across Ministries & Institutions as well as across business associations," said Aqil in Jakarta, Monday (4/9/2023).

Second, BPJPH will carry out certification for products, from upstream to downstream industries. Third, strengthening the MSME network that is ready to go international. Fourth, facilitate Halal Certification through the 2024 APBD. Fifth, form BPJPH organizational units in the regions. Sixth, realizing Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain-based technology to trace halal products. Seventh, establishing a global halal forum across authorities.

"In the future, BPJPH will be much more collaborative, inclusive and participative in accelerating each service line, and of course the presence of the Minister of Religious Affairs here is a sign of the seriousness of this change project and will be followed up as soon as possible," he concluded.

Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas appreciated the efforts that BPJPH will take. "I think what Mr Aqil has designed is beyond my expectations. Previously I saw it was still normal. However, today there are various kinds of fundamental changes which in the future will help us to accelerate the halal certification process as desired by the President and Vice President," explained Yaqut.

The Minister Yaqut also appealed to BPJPH to actively continue to collaborate with many parties, so that the implementation of the halal certification obligation in 2024 does not burden the APBN.
