Head of BPJPH Witnesses Destruction of Products Containing Porcine

Jakarta --- The destruction of processed food products containing porcine or pork elements that were previously halal certified was carried out by PT Catur Global Sukses, West Jakarta, on Friday (9/5/2025). The Head of the Indonesian Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH), Ahmad Haikal Hasan, witnessed the activity, accompanied by the Deputy for Development and Supervision of Halal Product Assurance E.A Chuzaemi Abidin, and the Director of Supervision of Halal Product Assurance, Budi Setio Hartoto.

"The destruction of these products is a continuation of the withdrawal of goods (products) from circulation because previously government supervision carried out by BPJPH and BPOM found that the products were proven to contain porcine or pork elements based on laboratory tests." said Head of BPJPH Ahmad Haikal Hasan.

"The withdrawal of goods from circulation is carried out as regulated in Government Regulation (PP) Number 42 of 2024 concerning the Implementation of the Halal Product Assurance Sector. The destruction of products that do not meet halal standards is a form of responsibility of business actors in accordance with regulatory provisions." continued Babe Haikal, Ahmad Haikal Hasan's nickname.

"All products containing porcine have been withdrawn from circulation and destroyed. So there is no need for bedlam in the community with sweeping in the shops." continued Babe Haikal emphasizing.

Furthermore, Babe Haikal reminded business actors that the halal certificate is a representation of the halal standard stated in the Halal Product Assurance System which must be implemented in the halal product process consistently, so that the product is truly maintained as halal from time to time. And to ensure this, supervision is a necessity that must be implemented.

Babe Haikal also said that his party is committed to protecting the public from the circulation of products that do not comply with the provisions of the Halal Product Assurance regulations. He also said that the supervision of Halal Product Assurance is currently being tightened with daily inspections or daily supervision. BPJPH also continues to strive to improve cross-sector cooperation with related stakeholders in strengthening supervision.

"Supervision of Halal Product Assurance is not only the responsibility of the government. Within the company there is also a halal supervisor whose existence is also regulated by regulations as a person responsible for the halal product process which is carried out with full awareness and a sense of responsibility." Babe Haikal said.
