Melbourne (BPJPH) --- The Halal Product Assurance Organizing Body (BPJPH) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia carried out an assessment of eight Foreign Halal Institutions (LHLN) in Australia. The Head of BPJPH Muhammad Aqil Irham said that the assessment was carried out on the accreditation and mutual recognition and acceptance of a number of these institutions.
"For Australia, we have conducted an assessment since Tuesday 12 July 2023 of 8 out of 15 Halal Certification Institutions in Australia that have submitted applications for cooperation with BPJPH. We started in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne." said the Head of BPJPH in Melbourne, Wednesday (19/7/2023)
Aqil who directly led the work visit of the assessment team was accompanied by the Head of the Center for Halal Cooperation and Standardization BPJPH Abd Syakur. Also present were Technical Assessor Dianawati, Sharia Assessor Aan Zainul Anwar, JPH Cooperation Coordinator Fertiana Santi and Head of the Mahdisin Legal Team. The meeting between the Indonesian delegation and the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) in Sydney opened the series of working visits.
"We hope that the assessment process for the eight institutions will run smoothly. This process is very important for the two countries in carrying out future cooperation, especially in industrial development and trade in halal products between the two countries," said Aqil.
Aqil also appreciated the enthusiasm of the halal institutions in Australia who really wanted to collaborate with Indonesia. According to him, the synergy of reciprocal Halal Product Assurance needs to be accelerated and implemented according to regulations so that it can provide benefits for both countries.
The eight Australian LHLN assessed in the assessment included the Supreme Islamic Council of Halal Meat Australia, Global Australian Halal Certification, Australian Halal Development & Accreditation, Global Halal Trade Centre, National Halal Accreditation Services Australia, National Halal Authority, Islamic Coordinating Council of Victoria, and Australian Halal Authorities & Advisers.
