Head of BPJPH: After Halal Certified, Business Actors Must Implement the Halal Product Assurance System

Jakarta --- Head of the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH) Ahmad Haikal Hasan emphasized that after obtaining a halal certificate, every business actor or product producer is required to implement the Halal Product Assurance System or Sistem Jaminan Produk Halal (SJPH) consistently from time to time. This is an obligation regulated by the Halal Product Assurance (JPH) regulation.

"Halal product assurance is legal certainty regarding the halalness of a product as evidenced by a halal certificate. Every business actor whose product has been halal certified is required to continuously, once again I emphasize, consistently implement the halal standards that we have set, which are called the Halal Product Assurance System." said Babe Haikal, his nickname, in Jakarta on Thursday (4/24/2025).

"If business actors consistently implement the SJPH in an orderly manner, then the halalness of the product will be maintained continuously from time to time." Babe Haikal continued to explain.

As known, according to Government Regulation Number 42 Year 2024 concerning the Implementation of the Halal Product Assurance Sector - Article 1, the Halal Product Assurance System or SJPH is an integrated system that is designed, implemented, and maintained to regulate materials, production processes, products, resources, and procedures in order to maintain the continuity of the Halal Product Process or PPH. PPH itself is a series of activities to guarantee the halalness of products including the provision of materials, processing, storage, packaging, distribution, sales, and presentation of products.

"Our halal principle is traceability. This means that the entire series of product processes from materials to products distributed or even served and ready to be eaten by consumers, must meet traceable halal standards that have been set based on applicable regulations." Babe Haikal added.

According to the provisions of Government Regulation Number 42 Year 2024, business actors who have obtained halal certificates are required to carry out several things, namely (1) putting on the halal labels on products that have received halal certificates; (2) business actors are required to maintain the halalness of products that have obtained halal certificates; (3) separate the location, place and tools for slaughtering, processing, storage, packaging, distribution, sales and serving of halal products and non-halal products; (4) renew halal certificates if there are changes in the composition of materials and/or PPH; and (5) must report changes in the composition of materials and/or PPH to BPJPH.
