JAKARTA --- The Halal Product Assurance Organizing Body (BPJPH) of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs received an invitation from the Governor of Chungcheongbuk-do, a province in North South Korea to discuss cooperation on Halal Product Assurance. With a population of more than 1.5 million people, Governor Kim Young Hwan expressed his interest in marketing his superior cosmetic products for Indonesian halal certification.
The Head of BPJPH, Muhammad Aqil Irham, appreciated the initiation of the collaboration and explained what conditions needed to be completed in administering halal certification.
"We, from Indonesia, are grateful for the initiative of the Governor and the South Korean Embassy to bring investors to Indonesia, especially cosmetic entrepreneurs. For the recognition of halal certification, both countries need Government to Government cooperation as a legal umbrella for the implementation of cooperation. It can also be through a halal authority that has been recognized by BPJPH. In this case the Korea Halal Authority who can pass it on to us by registering its products through ptsp.halal.go.id,” said Aqil at the Westin Hotel Jakarta, Saturday (14/07).  This meeting was attended by no less than 25 delegates from South Korea including the Governor of Chungcheongbuk-do Kim Young Hwan, as well as investors and business people involved in the cosmetics business, agriculture to the entrepreneur of the country's typical ginseng food, Kimchi.
"We see the potential of Indonesia with the world's largest Muslim population, as well as a friend of South Korea for a long time. Today we want to meet and talk and talk about mutual cooperation in promoting local products in both countries. From Chungcheongbuk-do, we offer our world-famous cosmetic products. ,” explained Kim Young Hwan, the Governor of the province which is one of the strategic economic centers in South Korea.
One of the Kimchi entrepreneurs who was part of the delegation expressed his interest in studying halal issues. In South Korea, products that have been certified halal are valued much higher, as well as consumers assess the products they produce are also much healthier.  The event was also attended by the Head of the Cooperation and Standardization Center of BPJPH Abdul Syakur, as well as the Korean Halal Authorities Safiah Weon-Suk Kim.
The conditions needed refer to Government Regulation Number 39 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of the Halal Product Assurance, including:
- Letter of Application for Foreign Halal Certificate Registration
- Letter of appointment in the form of an agreement letter from the company of the country of origin including the clause granting the right to the applicant as the designated company to apply for registration of foreign halal certificates
- Business Identification Number (NIB) of the importer and/or official representative in Indonesia
- Applicant Data
- Copy of Foreign Halal Certificate for the relevant product which has been legalised by Indonesian representatives abroad
- The list of goods to be imported into Indonesia is accompanied by a harmonised system code number
- A statement stating that the submitted documents are correct and valid
